Initiatives
The City of Dallas was awarded a $186,000 grant from the Department of Labor, Employment Training Administration to conduct workforce training in logistics in the IIPOD area. The City has partnered with Greater Dallas Workforce Solutions and Cedar Valley College to offer this free logistics training to Southern Dallas (city) residents who have completed tenth grade but not completed college. The training class is 40 hours, and will be held on an on-going basis. More information is available here.
The North Cental Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG), in partnership with Dallas County and the Cities of Dallas, Lancaster, Wilmer, Hutchins and Ferris, are conducting an infrastructure analysis of the inland port area, which will focus on roads, water, stormwater and utilties. Wilber Smith has been awarded the contract to do the study, and the analysis will take about 18 months to complete. For more information, please visit the project's website.
