The communities involved in the IIPOD project are working to develop an environmentally friendly project.  Efforts are underway to encourage green developments.  Representatives from city governments, the North Central Texas Council of Governments and the state met to form an Environmental Working Group to brainstorm potential environmental issues and possible solutions.

The City of Dallas has an idling restriction.  Within Dallas city limits, most vehicles over 14,000 pounds are prohibited from idling, which helps improve the air quality in the region.  More information of the City’s idling restriction is available here.

In addition, the City of Dallas can provide technical assistance for applications for the Texas Emissions Reduction Program (TERP) which offers monetary incentives for projects to improve air quality in areas like Dallas County.
